Se oggi avete notato problemi ad accedere uno dei nostri servizi, probabilmente li stavate cercando sul server che abbiamo in olanda e  che oggi ha avuto un problema legato al provider.
Tutto “sotto controllo”, nessuna azione poliziesca per intenderci, solo la proverbiale sfiga. :)
Di seguito troverete il comunicato del provider.

If you noticed any problem accessing our services today you may have hitten a server not reachable because of a provider issue, not any police raid for today, just murphy’s law.

Xs4all-customers since Thursday morning suffering from a major failure. The cause is not in the DSL network itself, but a component in XS4ALL’s data center.

One of the main routers Xs4all partially smashed. “A number of cards in it are down. There are some people across the country had suffered from,” says Niels Huijbregts,spokesman Xs4All. At time of writing there are physical network cables omgeplugdto other routers, then the damaged cards are replaced. “We are now at the end of the fault.”

Xs4all itself puts the problem as a network failure or down, but Huijbregts indicates that it is not the DSL network themselves. This makes the services of the Intenetprovider “less accessible”, said the error page that states that the failure began at 05:00 tonight. 

[IT] Oggi spostiamo un po’ di dati da un server ad un altro, quindi alcune email e siti web potrebbero essere irraggiungibili per brevi periodi di tempo. Tutto dovrebbe tornare normale entro 24 ore.

[EN] Today we’ll be moving some data between servers. Individual emails and websites could be unavailable for short periods of time.  Everything should be back to normal within 24 hours.

We are sorry to inform you just now that today from now for the next 4 hours one of our servers will face a downtime due to ISP manteinance.
everything is fine, no police takin’ over, just our lack of information and some manteinance to be done.

Vi informiamo che lunedì 31 agosto due dei nostri server verranno spostati da una sede all’altra dello stesso provider. Per questo, dovremo cambiare indirizzo IP alle macchine con conseguenti disagi legati alla propagazione DNS.
Cercheremo di condurre tutta l’operazione con la dovuta attenzione e di ridurre al minimo i disagi, per cui confidiamo nella vostra pazienza e solidarietà.

This is to inform you that on Monday, August 31st, we’re going to move two of our servers due to a change of location. We’ll have to change IP addresses and this will lead to some slight problems at the DNS propagation level.
We’ll try to be as careful as possible and to reduce to a minimum the inconveniences caused by this IP address change. Should there be any problems, we trust in your patience and solidarity.

In questi giorni (oggi) abbiamo spento uno dei nostri vecchi server, “esilio”, per sopravvenuti limiti d’età. E’ stato sostituito da “espatrio” sul quale sono state migrate le utenze e i servizi.
Chiaramente non poteva andare tutto bene. Abbiamo sperimentato dei problemi con la replicazione dei database mysql e questo ha causato la scomparsa casuale di oggetti, come le rubriche della posta via web.

Se avete ancora una rubrica e ritenete sia molto importante esportatela in qualche formato, non affidatela a noi, né a nessun altro. Questo consiglio vale per qualsiasi gestore a cui affidiate la vostra posta. Se non trovate più la rubrica scriveteci su info(at)autistici.org, così capiamo l’entità del problema.

Nota tecnica:
Stiamo cercando di recuperare la situazione, e più in generale di abbandonare completamente il sistema delle replicazione dei database per dati come le rubriche di posta, che vorremmo spostare su ldap. La replicazione delle rubriche per ora serviva solo in caso di spostamento della casella da un server ad un altro, compito che sarebbe più facile affidare a ldap se trovassimo il tempo di sistemare a modino la posta via web. Vorremmo anche riuscire a ridurre i sistema di posta via web a uno e dismettere iloha mail, ma per questo sarete avvisati con qualche mese di anticipo. Beh, insomma, ci sono sempre delle cose da fare.

Da piu ‘parti ci e’ stato chiesto di delineare meglio i problemi che abbiamo
avuto in queste settimane. Qui di seguito c’e’ un tentativo. Per noi e’ molto
complicato riuscire a comunicare, mentre stiamo cercando di risolvere i
problemi. Quindi abbiate pazienza, se il report arriva in ritardo,
speriamo risulti esaustivo.

Per descrivere i malfunzionamenti che colpiscono il nostro network, prendiamo in prestito il titolo da una saga di avventure in cui i protagonisti sopravvivono solo grazie alle loro forze e all’aiuto di amici sinceri.

probabilmente non ve ne sarete accorti :), ma da una settimana circa abbiamo dei seri problemi con
il software che amministra il database di A/I infatti tutti i disservizi di questa settimana sono stati causati
da uno scocciante malfunzionamento di openldap, lo stesso problema ci ha portati ad effettuare un
aggiornamento rapido del sistema operativo su i server , ma non e’ bastato a risolvere il problema.
Nonostante quasi tutti i servizi siano stati riattivati (rendendo il database accessibile solo in lettura),
il problema persiste.
Non abbiamo abbandonato i posti di combattimento e stiamo lavorando per riportare tutto quanto alla
normalita’.
Fiduciosi nella vostra benevolenza vi invitiamo ad avere pazienza.

Dear A/I Users,
as you have probably noticed, from a week or so, we have some serious problems with the software that
manages the database of A/I. All the problems this week were caused by a malfunction of openldap, the
same problem led us to make a quick update of the operating system on the server, but it was not enough
to solve the problem.
Although almost all services have been re-activated (by making the database accessible in read-only), the
problem persists.
We struggle and are working to restore everything to normal.
Confident in your goodness, we invite you to have patience.
