A partire da oggi entrano definitivamente in vigore le direttive del garante della privacy italiano sui cookies e siamo tenute per legge, pena multe salatissime, a inserire su tutti i blog di Noblogs e su tutti i siti che usano cookies un banner che vi richiede il consenso esplicito all’uso dei cookies.

Si tratta esclusivamente di una formalità, e dal punto di vista del funzionamento dei server di A/I non cambia niente: Autistici/Inventati, e quindi NoBlogs, non registra alcuna infomazione sugli utenti né effettua alcuna profilazione.

Ma che cosa sono i cookies, a che servono e perché vengono usati anche su Noblogs e sui siti di A/I?

I cookies sono informazioni registrate nel tuo computer (o smartphone) quando visiti un sito web. Alcuni, quelli che usiamo noi (i cosiddetti cookies tecnici) servono a facilitare e a velocizzare la navigazione, altri a interfacciarsi con servizi come Twitter o Youtube (i “cookies di terze parti”) e altri ancora per profilare gli utenti a scopo commerciale. Questi ultimi non sono usati sui server di A/I per policy, e di conseguenza neanche i nostri utenti possono usarli nei loro siti.

Quindi non sarete profilati se visitate un sito di A/I o un blog di Noblogs. Considerate però che, a prescindere dalla nuova legge e dal banner d’ordinanza, se accedete a un sito o a un social network commerciale i cookies di profilazione non mancano mai. Se questa idea non vi piace, l’ideale è cancellare i cookies ogni volta che chiudete la sessione del browser: un’opzione che si trova nelle impostazioni del vostro browser.

Banner on cookies — a mere formality

Today the new provisions on consent and privacy policy for using cookies, held by the Italian Data Protection Authority, are officially established. In order to avoid hefty fines, we are bound to add to all Noblogs blogs and to all websites that use cookies a banner that requests the users’ explicit consent to the use of cookies.

This is just a formality, as A/I’s servers will keep functioning as before: Autistici/Inventati, and therefore Noblogs, do not log any personal data on users and visitors alike, nor do we profile anyone.

But what are cookies exactly? What do they do, and why are they used also on Noblogs and A/I’s websites?

Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored in your browser when you visit a website. So-called “technical cookies”, those found in our websites, are used to make browsing easier and quicker, “third-party cookies” are needed to communicate with services like Twitter or Youtube, and “profiling cookies” are used to profile users for commercial purposes. The latter are forbidden by A/I’s policy and therefore our users are not allowed to use them in their websites.

So you won’t be profiled if you visit a website hosted by A/I or a Noblogs blog. But consider that, no matter how many laws they make or how many banners they request, when you access a commercial website or social network, profiling cookies will always be there. If you don’t like the idea, you can delete cookies every time you close a browsing session: you will find this option in your browser settings.
