Se oggi avete notato problemi ad accedere uno dei nostri servizi, probabilmente li stavate cercando sul server che abbiamo in olanda e  che oggi ha avuto un problema legato al provider.
Tutto “sotto controllo”, nessuna azione poliziesca per intenderci, solo la proverbiale sfiga. :)

Xs4all-customers since Thursday morning suffering from a major failure. The cause is not in the DSL network itself, but a component in XS4ALL’s data center.

One of the main routers Xs4all partially smashed. ”A number of cards in it are down. There are some people across the country had suffered from,” says Niels Huijbregts,spokesman Xs4All. At time of writing there are physical network cables omgeplugdto other routers, then the damaged cards are replaced. ”We are now at the end of the fault.”

Xs4all itself puts the problem as a network failure or down, but Huijbregts indicates that it is not the DSL network themselves. This makes the services of the Intenetprovider “less accessible”, said the error page that states that the failure began at 05:00 tonight.

A dieci anni dalla sua nascita A/I ha deciso di raccontarsi, per ripercorrere il percorso seguito ma non solo per amarcord. Perché narrare una storia di resistenza può servire anche da ispirazione (o da monito) per i progetti resistenti che ancora devono venire. Una storia di un cammino che non smette di andare avanti.

Una storia che è prima di tutto un azzardo, un tentativo di narrazione corale pensato a partire dai ricordi di chi in A/I c’è stato, di chi passava di lì per caso ed è rimasto, di chi ha dato mano, di chi ancora, ogni giorno, decide che ne vale la pena.

Ma questo libro è al contempo il racconto di un’avventura abbastanza unica nel mondo del digitale, la ricostruzione di una serie di percorsi formativi mai lineari, che già si intravedono tra le centinaia di pagine che il collettivo si è lasciato alle spalle in dieci anni di attività.

Per noi si è trattato, attraverso A/I, di raccontare l’esperienza collettiva, la crescita di un gruppo di ragazze e ragazzi appassionati di tecnologia e comunicazione che hanno costruito una delle reti più vivaci ed efficaci a uso del movimento italiano, facendo proprio il motto di Primo Moroni “Condividere saperi, senza fondare poteri”.

Una storia di A/I basata su interviste a chi ad A/I ha dedicato un pezzo di vita, un modo di raccontare, almeno parzialmente, 10 anni di hacktivismo. Il libro uscirà in autunno: per il momento c’è questo assaggio. E se poi non vedete l’ora di stringere tra le vostre mani la vostra copia, sostenendo il progetto A/I, prenotatela subito su Produzioni dal Basso.

Il circolo Iqbal Masih (da Dodi’s), storico locale del movimento bolognese, che solo qualche mese fa ha ospitato un’iniziativa di finanziamento per autistici.org, e’ a rischio sfratto.

Invitiamo tutti e tutte a difendere il circolo e a partecipare alle iniziative contro lo sfratto.

Finalmente anche i server di A/I sono passati a Debian Squeeze. Peccato che questo passaggio non sia stato del tutto indolore. Infatti Debian Squeeze passa definitivamente e senza appello a php 5.3. Cosa c’è di male, direte voi, anche giustamente? Niente. Non fosse che alcune versioni datate dei CMS più usati non sono compatibili con questa versione di php: Joomla e MediaWiki per esempio. In realtà un aggiornamento del vostro CMS dovrebbe riportare tutto in ordine, ma se avete pasticciato molto con la vostra installazione probabilmente la cosa sarà più complicata del previsto. Anche se non ci crederete, vi stiamo facendo un favore :)

[ENG] A/I moves to Debian Squeeze

Finally A/I servers moved to the new Debian Squeeze. Unfortunately this move is not proving completely harmless to some of the websites we host. Debian Squeeze moves definitely to version 5.3 of the php package. “And what’s wrong with this?” most of you are probably wondering. Nothing. Unless you are still using an outdated version of some of the most widespread CMS like Joomla and MediaWiki which are not compatible with this php version. In most cases an upgrade is all you need to get back the functionality of your website, but if you patched your CMS a lot, the upgrade could prove harder and trickier than you think. Even in this case, believe us or not, we are doing you a favor!
If you face different problems after this switch, please contact us via IRC, mail or through our helpdesk interface (as soon as we fix it to comply with Debian Squeeze! :))

Avvisiamo tutti gli utenti che finalmente abbiamo ultimato una nuova versione del pannello utente, quella schermata che trovate quando vi collegate alla vostra casella di posta tramite il nostro sito web. Ora il pannello è più leggero, più funzionale, e decisamente meno confusionario: da una sola pagina ogni utente può gestire tutte le caselle di posta e gli alias che ha presso i nostri server, nonché tutti i siti web, i blog aperti su noblogs e i database. Non chiedeteci di più.
In compenso abbiamo deciso di mandare in pensione l’ormai obsoleta webmail-light e abbiamo integrato i suoi database dei contatti con quelli della webmail ufficiale (roundcube). Mancano alcuni dati, ma a breve daremo a tutti la possibilità di scaricarsi l’intero contenuto della propria vecchia rubrica direttamente dal pannello. Speriamo non ci siano problemi, ma se ci fossero, sapete dove trovarci!

A new panel for our users!

Our Beloved Users, Be Warned! We have released a new version of our users’ panel, the webpage you meet every time you login from our home page. But there’s no rose without a thorn, so you’ll have to say goodbye to our old friend “light webmail” (ilohamail). We decided to not support it anymore and merged all of your contacts from ilohamail into our new shining webmail (roundcube). Some datas are still missing, but we will be providing shortly for a way to easily download from you panel all of your old contacts in some nasty file format. We hope the migration will be smooth, but as always we expect trouble. Should such an unforetold event occur, you know where you can find us. Greets.

Da quando Noblogs è passato da Lifetype alla nuova piattaforma WordPress una delle esigenze principali espresse da alcuni blogger è stata quella di avere dei template più flessibili, che consentissero loro di personalizzare al massimo il proprio blog dal punto di vista dell’aspetto grafico. La prima soluzione che abbiamo provato a dare è stata quella di scegliere un grosso numero di temi e di incitare all’uso spregiudicato dei widget; la seconda e migliore soluzione è stata quella di mettere a disposizione di tutt* un plugin – wpmu-custom-css – che consentisse a ogni utente di modificare interamente il css del proprio template.
Finalmente abbiamo trovato una terza soluzione, ancora più amichevole: il tema Constructor. Questo tema è pensato per racchiudere in un solo template centinaia di possibilità: potete scegliere quante sidebar avere e dove posizionarle, i colori principali del vostro blog, se avere o meno una testata e come strutturarla, il tutto senza dover scrivere una singola riga di codice html o di fogli di stile (che sono comunque interamente modificabili sempre dal pannello di amministrazione del tema).
Una volta che avete attivato Constructor, trovate l’editor WYSIWYG in Appearance->Customize. Per il resto potete fare tutto: divertitevi e dateci un po’ di feedback in proposito!

Constructor: build your template!
Since Noblogs switched from Lifetype to the new WordPress platform, one of the main requests by some bloggers was to have more flexible templates allowing a high customization of the graphic appearance of their blogs. As a first solution, we offered a great number of themes together with many widgets which could be used at will; a second and better solution was the introduction of a plugin – wpmu-custom-css – that allowed every user to entirely modify the css of their templates.
Finally we have found a third solution, even more user-friendly: the Constructor theme, which includes hundreds of possibilities within one template. With Constructor, you can choose how many sidebars you have in your blog and where to place them, as well as the colors of your blog, the presence and structure of your header, etc., without having to write any html code or stylesheets (which can be entirely modified in the administration panel of the theme).
Once you have activated Constructor, you will find the WYSIWYG editor in Appearance->Customize.
